In the gallaries of the Stadthaus – meaning town hall – exhibitions are being displayed in the context of  socio-political issues, which are of common interest and relate to Zurich and the region of it. Beyond the contemplation of historical aspects, the focus is first and foremost on contemporary issues.

Thanks to continued acquisitions and numerous gifts, the collection grew during the past years far beyond the original coverage of a library for the purpose of study. It comprises nowadays about 150 000 original prints and drawings as of the 15^th century to this day. It can thus be referred to as the most comprehensive collection of original prints in Switzerland, whereas the focus is especially on prints of Swiss origin.

The Muehlerama – old mill – provides a great sensory experience:  An almost one century-old mill is vibrating and pounding, a permanent  exhibition relates to the history of cereals and yearly temporary special exhibitions dedicate themselves to the people’s traditional eating and dringing habits. It is an artful showroom envolving a delight for the taste-buds.
